Marine Corp Marathon Washington DC

Was that a speeding sports car? Was it the bullet train? Or was it a Texas tornado that just flew by? None of the above...It was Ami and her brother Eddie, running by as they completed the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. Ami's brother ran the marathon in '92 and wanted to run it again before he retires from the army. He convinced Ami to run it with him so off to D.C. we all went. Eddie's wife Brittany and I were there for support and were able to see them at 3 different points along the race route. Needless to say, we know the metro well! Ami and Eddie both did a great job we are very proud of their accomplishment!! We did manage to do some sight seeing throughout the weekend too.

Welcome to South Bend

Ami and I took a trip to South Bend, Indiana over the weekend to take in a Notre Dame football game. Our friends, Rick and Marisa, have a son attending Notre Dame. We've wanted to visit campus since their daughter Erica attended, plus we vowed to go to a football game before Rick graduated. He is now a senior so we finally booked our tickets! Some other friends of ours, Katie and Rich, drove in from Bloomington, Illinois to join in the weekend fun. We had a blast watching the Rangers at the sports bar Between the Buns, checking out the campus, tailgating, and cheering at the game. As always, the weekend went too fast and was over before we knew it.

Quick Trip to New Mexico

Ami and I spent a few days in New Mexico to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Since we had never been to New Mexico, we thought it would be fun to check it out. We flew into Albuquerque and drove up through Santa Fe into the Taos, Angel Fire, and Red River area. These are all ski towns in the winter and have lots of activities in the summer too. The scenery is beautiful and the weather was great. We drove the Enchanted Circle which takes you through and over the mountains several times. We really liked Red River as it is nestled in the mountains and everything is within walking distance. We spent 1 night at a hot springs spa (Ojo Calientes) where we enjoyed several different pools with healing powers and spoiled ourselves with massages.

Let's Go to Luckenbach, TX!

Spent the first part of spring break playing a little golf and hanging out in the hill country. Stayed at a ranch in the hill country one night and then made our way to Luckenbach and then on to Fredericksburg. Planning on spending the rest of spring break taking it easy and enjoying the weather.

Money Well Spent!!!!

Here's a little video of our trees getting pruned. These guys used ropes to pull themselves up to the tops of the trees and then worked their way down. It looked like a lot of work!

Hello Spring!

Cut the grass today for the first time of the new 2011 spring season. Temps near 70 today and not a cloud in the sky.

Golf Champions in Bloomington!

Spent the Labor Day weekend in Bloomington, IL visiting our friends Katie and Rich. Rich and I won the annual SAME Cafe golf tournament. It's easy! Hopefully they will have some harder games next year!

So Long Old Friend!

After many years of enjoying the hot tub, it was time to say good-bye. We tried giving it away but finally had to dispose of it properly. Nothing a new Dewalt blade and a sawzall couldn"t take care of! Now if Ami gets it hauled off to the dump, we'll be ready to do some landscaping!

Kitchen Makeover

We started our kitchen makeover. The countertops were done by putting down several thin layers of cement over the formica and then coloring it and putting a clear coat over it. Backsplash and floor tile is now complete, as well as some new lights.

Valentine's Day!

Ami and I went out to Canyon of the Eagles Resort on Lake Buchanon on Saturday night for Valentine's Day. The weather actually turned out to be great! We did some hiking and saw several eagles, along with an awesome sunset over the lake.

What it is? Groooovy!

We went to a 70's birthday party last night. It was happening at Kevin's crib. He's a real cool cat.

Vacationed in Bloomington Il. over the Labor Day weekend!

Ami and I spent the Labor Day weekend in Bloomington Il visiting our friends Katie and Rich. We spent some time golfing, going to a wine festival, and hanging out. As always, we had a great time.

Schmidt's come to Texas

Katie and Elroy came down Easter weekend for some fun in the sun. We did some golfing, went bowling, and went to a Round Rock Express game. Mom and dad got in on Saturday and got to go bowling with us. Did I mention I bowled 3 strikes in the tenth frame to beat ER by 1 pin and take a dollar from him?? It's easy!

We rented a house last weekend on Lake LBJ to celebrate Ami's 40th birthday! Here are a few snapshots and a short video clip from the weekend.

Had a little hail storm today!

We made it home from work just in time for some nasty weather. Luckily we didn't have the tennis ball and golf ball size hail they had just west of here. A lot of houses and cars had all of the windows broken out of them.

Kari, Craig, and the girls visit Texas

Kari and Craig came to visit last week. We met up with them in San Antonio and then went to mom and dad's for a few days. We celebrated Jasmin's birthday and went to South Padre Island.

Ami and I went to Mexico over the weekend.

But not together! Ami went to Playa del Carmen with some of her girlfriends from high school and I went to see mom and dad. We went to Progresso with Bev and Frank on Friday. I took a few snapshots.

OK all. We finally created a blog. Not sure what we will post, but I'm sure we'll think of something. Looks like I need to go shovel snow. Actually this picture taken back in December.
